Australis cruise line sells the Via Australis to Lindbald Expeditions

Australis cruise line sells the Via Australis to Lindbald Expeditions - Plans are underway to replace the Via with a larger, modern vessel.

SANTIAGO, Chile - Australis, the expedition cruise line with excursions in Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, has announced that it is selling the Via Australis to Lindblad Expeditions. Lindblad will take possession of the ship at the end of the current season. The Stella Australis continues its normal scheduled operations. Australis plans to build a new ship which will enable them to expand their offerings. It will offer more cabins in a streamlined, modern vessel, comparable to the Stella Australis. The new ship should be completed by the end of 2017. Both ships will ply the Magellan Strait, the Beagle Channel and the national parks and fjords of Tierra del Fuego. The route for the Australis ships is between Punta de Arenas in Chile and Ushuaia in Argentina. This represents a great opportunity for Australis, to increase its offerings with a faster, leaner, and more modern ship, which will be similar to the Stella Australis, the ship launched in 2010. With more than 25 years of experience, Australis currently owns and operates the Via Australis and Stella Australis, which navigate the waters and fjords of Tierra del Fuego and its archipelagos in Southern Patagonia in Chile and Argentina from September to April each year. Australis offers high-quality and enriching learning experiences in three, four, and seven-night programs, combined with unique cruising itineraries to discover the cultures and destinations at the end of the earth. Clients with existing reservations on the Via Australis for next season 2016-2017 who have questions may contact mmohaupt@australis.com or sales@australis.com
